Welcome to Real Hope Ministry.

I, Alvin E. Miller Jr. am the founder of RHM. I started this ministry in 2006 in the Beecher Terrace Housing Project in Louisville Kentucky. At the time of 2006, Beecher Terrace was the most drug infested, gang infiltrated, murderess housing project in the state of Kentucky.

As expected, the children took the brunt of abuse and neglect. Some were deprived of basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing, and more importantly they lacked the love that they needed.

My mission was to give them all the things they lacked: food, clothing, shelter and more importantly LOVE.

It started out with three siblings who were outside playing in the extreme cold. I asked them to come in out of the cold to my apartment. I offered them something to eat. The children ate so vigorously, it seemed they haven’t eaten in days. I told them they did not have to eat so fast, if they wanted more, they could get some more. They were amazed that they could get seconds, thirds or fourths if needed. In parting, I told the children, if they were ever hungry, they could knock on my door and I would feed them. Honestly, that three turned into 6 which grew to 9 which grew to 12. At the end of the week, I had 20 children knocking on my door.

One day they were sitting and eating, one of the children asked “what do people do when they go to church?”. I asked her had she ever been to church, she said “no”. That began my ministry of taking the children to church. I reached out to Reverend Kirk M. Bush of Harrods Creek Baptist Church in Prospect, Kentucky. We began introducing the children to Jesus. To make a long story short, 7 or 8 of them accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior and was baptized. To this day, some of their children are in my ministry today.
